Abstract
Stroke is one of the main causes of hospitalization. Due to its degree of complexity, there are many clinical complications causing adverse events related to medications, mainly drug interactions. Therefore, the present study aimed to analyze drug interactions in a hemorrhagic stroke unit. This is a descriptive, prospective study with a quantitative approach carried out in a tertiary hospital in the public network in the State of Ceará. 122 prescriptions from 8 patients with a mean age of 53.3 ± 12.7 were analyzed, of which 25% (n=2) were male and 75% (n=6) female. 321 interactions were analyzed, of which 16 (5%) interactions were contraindicated, 90 (28%) moderate and 215 (67%) severe, with ketoconazole, topiramate and NPH insulin being the most involved medications, respectively. It was concluded that the profile of patients suffering from hemorrhagic stroke mostly has comorbidities and that the number of drug interactions in patients admitted to the specialized unit is also high.
